700 Club Support Worker Strikes Gold

Joanne Tonkin, a 700 Club support worker, overcame strong opposition in the European Kettlebell Championships in Lithuania and came home with two gold medals. It was a real family affair, because her son, who was competing in the Junior Championship at the same event, gained a silver and a bronze medal. Quite a haul for the English Team. Community Unites Against Begging

The Community Safety Partnership, a multi-agency group made up of Darlington Borough Council, Durham Constabulary, NHS Darlington Clinical Commissioning Group, The Probation Service, Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service, and the Voluntary and Community Sector, have issued a joint press release to discourage the public from giving to beggars.Read more

700 Club in London

In September, a group of clients and staff went to London for the day together. For some it was the first time they had visited the capital, and for one or two, the first time they had been outside of Darlington. It was therefore a day that was full of firsts and full of challenge for people working to rebuild their lives.Read more

Lord Lieutenant Visit

Lord Lieutenant Sue Snowdon and the Vice Lord Lieutenant, Alasdair MacConachie visited the 700 Club to see how the work we do makes a difference to the community in Darlington. She spent time at the Head Office with John Elliston CEO and Yvonne Beattie the Services Manager before visiting Hope House, meeting staff, and seeing some of the facilities that the organisation provides.Read more

The 700 Club have received a Spirit of the Community award of £5000 from the Yorkshire and Clydesdale Bank Foundation. It will be used to part fund an initiative directed towards the large number of individuals begging in Darlington Town Centre.Read more
