The old adage that prevention is better than cure underlies this new initiative. The Early Intervention Support Project will be set up to respond immediately and proactively to problems that come to the attention of the Local Authority which may be the precursor of homelessness. It is anticipated that the project will be launched in January 2017, and is funded for 2 years. The hope is that through this project the number of individuals in crisis accessing homelessness services will fall, and that by the end of the project the Authority will have an evidence base which clearly shows what works and what doesn't when trying to prevent homelessness.
